This is a quick and easy detour.

If on 40 you can also check out Petrified Forest NP, just east of Winslow. Exit 311 puts you at the painted desert entrance. The main park road then dumps you out on US 180. Take it west and hit 40 again at exit 286.

Between Winslow and Flagstaff is Meteor Crater.
