Basically it boils down Harley has for years priced themselves out of their core customer demographic.

What’s the demographic?...

Working, blue collar, middle class guys. And I’m not taking just bikers. There’s a whole lot of guys and girls who buy and ride motorcycles. A lot of them would love to own a new Harley. But that isn’t realistic to many of them when a new Harley cost as much or even more than their car or truck and there are many other motorcycle options to be had for a fraction of the price of a Harley.

They can buy used ones now.

Harley was dumb to increase production. They are a niche brand that tried to go mainstream. Their pricing alone will keep them from ever being mainstream.

My brother who is a patent lawyer in a large firm in D.C., rides a 2002 Fatboy as often as he can.

He says that it pisses off some of the soy boys that live in his neighborhood in Reston, VA.
