I know the wind was terrible, but did anyone venture out to do some trawling on opening day?

Wind was killer, steady blowing 20-25. Really limited where we could pull.
Caught about #50 of nice shrimp and 2 dozen Big Male crabs before deciding to call it an early day and boiling the crabs.
Today looks much better as far as the wind goes.

I’m venturing out this weekend to give it a shot. This will be the first time to do it without an experienced person on bored. Gonna be exciting if we can actually catch a few.
Question on pulling the trawl, the boat we are going in does not have tie off points in the middle of the boat. That’s what the other boats I’ve went in had. Ive also tied to the very front before as well and just bridled the ropes so that they don’t go under the boat while turning. Can you pull from the very back effectively?? I figured tying the ropes to the front was for better steering and allowing the net to open better.

I don’t know about all that but I made a special trip down to Chauvin to get skrimps. 150# of some nice browns for $1.50 with 3 dz crabs kicked in made me smile. Some trout running south down Terrebone made a nice kicker
