this is the time of year I usually spend some time at my buddies camp on the island. I find myself on the grand isle beach cam to check out conditions. This morning looks like a perfect day. First light topwaters, close to the beach and I would be slaying those bitches. Now, I'm really homesick.

3.5 ft seas this morning in Grand Isle. You would be surfing more than fishing. But yeah I feel your pain.

I think the people who do the wind forecasts are fishermen. They say its blowing so they get it to themselves. Say it wont be when it is so other people go get beat up

I am a fisherman. I don’t want to keep the Gulf of Mexico for myself. Want everyone to catch.

I was down there over the weekend and it was quite rough in the surf. With the wind still blowing I figured it would still be sporty. Nice to hear that it layed down a bit

LINK

There’s a link to a live grand isle camera

Looks choppy but fishable. Waters dirty from what I’ve heard though

Thanks for the link.

The water is gonna be dirty. It was blowing 20 plus all weekend while I was down there. Takes a couple days of light wind to clear up.

Call in sick and we can go.
We all talk about it call in sick, we come pick you up with a lame excuse for your wife if you are married, and we roll.

Going down Saturday to stay the night for an offshore trip we have booked Sunday. I want to catch some specks Saturday if possible. Think the surf would be worth a shot? I have an 18 foot flat bottom but didn’t really want to take it since 4 of us will be there Saturday and it’s not a good boat to fish more than 2-3 people out of.

Speckled trout fishing is amazingly addicting. I usually go to the port saint joe/appilacia cola area(probably misspelled that).

Wind layed down at first light till about noon and they left from the slip at Bridgeside and fished the beaches. My buddie and 2 others limited out on nice trout, 14-22+" , by 10am...
