Knew a lady that was in the national guard at the Superdome. She mentioned a group of junkies all standing around for their turn with the one needle.

I don't know if I believe that the levees were blown to save the French quarter but it does make sense and there's also precedent for it because it's happened once before down in Chalmette
That was actually in Caernarvon, below Chalmette, during the ‘27 River flood...

The look on Mike Myers's face.

When I finally got to my house after the flood waters went down enough to get I ..it looked like nuclear winter. Everything was gray. I was the first one back due to a LEO friend escorting me. Could have heard a pin drop. It was crazy eerie.
You’re looking up and around taking at all in. Then when I looked down..that’s when I saw them. All over. Dead fish.
That’s the crazy part...I didn’t see remains of other animals at first..but the fish were everywhere.

Who would blow the levees? DPW? LOL. The Corps of Engineers? They would still be working on requisitioning the explosives. The National Guard? We would have at least evacuated our HQs from Jackson Barracks and moved all the weapons out of the armory. Plus, it isn't like guardsmen just ride around with crater charges.
Anyone who believes the government could pull off a conspiracy needs to go visit a DMV for a reality check. Government is slow and borderline retarded at all levels.

Craziest thing I personally saw or heard was my wife laziest as far leftist brother from NOLA who stayed with us.
A biz friend (son of company owner) sent 2 ea 3MW diesel engine powered emergency generators from MI and came with them. FEMA had a room for him in Covington and he tended them every day (Belle Chasse NAS and NOLA docks) and was shot at every single day around dusk, at the port, when he would leave for the day.

My uncle was a NOPD detective assigned to the Superdome... he refuses to tell any stories about what happed in there
All we know is that he was drinking a bottle of whiskey per day to cope with the mass tragedy...after which, he needed a kidney transplant, and luckily he found a match and is doing well
His brother was NOPD patrol... he locked himself inside a hotel when the waters rose, and for 2 weeks he ran the day to day rationing of food and water for everybody caught inside, as well as stood look out and guarded the doors every night until he found a way to evacuate the building... he was the last to leave
2 Irish Catholics doing what they had to in order to make it home
Our NOLA family evacuated to our house in BR... 20 ppl in a 3000sqft house for 2 months
I worked for Raising Canes on their support crew 4am-12pm every day for 2 months... I would show up at the headquarters on corporate blvd, unload a reefer truck by hand, first thing...then ride to NOLA
We were the first restaurant reopen in the city (vets)... police escorted drive through 1/4 mile long with 1 hour wait times
We had people telling us that this was their first hot meal in a month, while they were covered in filth and clearly hadn't had a shower in that same time span...covered in mold and god knows what else... the desperation of humanity that I witnessed serving chicken fingers was heartbreaking

He was probably doing that before the tragedy. It takes longer than that to destroy your liver.

Dude, I get it. That's why I said -
quote:
I don't know if I believe that the levees were blown
But there is motive for it, to save the French quarter and Uptown and it has been done before. That was really my only point. Though I don't know if that was even in play because I don't think the river was that high. Flooding from the lake and the outfall canals does not and has never threatened the sliver by the river

Bush and the Feds completely fricked up Katrina. An incredibly inept response that defies explanation. That piece of shite W should never show his face in Louisiana or Mississippi again.

During the middle of Katrina we kind of hear this thud of the door and think nothing of it, then we hear it again. We get up to go see if it is someone that may need help or maybe branches are hitting the front of the house.
We open up the door to this big arse horse just standing there. It was funny afterwards but damn was that a surprise.
I've got some far worse stories from it, but like most I prefer to not speak/think about it.

I still remember the picture of people coming out of a sports store with tons of items they looted. I read that one of the people said” this is MY store now”.
