Do we really call them radicals anymore?
Just normal adherents.
Implications here that need to be reconciled.
This term "radical muslims" from a Western perspective as it's being thrown around by both Left and Right - but particularly by the Right - in its present context and general use places it among the more over used redundancies.
But from this perspective, there very well could be authentically "radical" muslims:
Muslims who don't believe in family honor killings,
Don't allow grisly, painful mutilation of their females,
Refuse to accept that it's human, or in any way civilized to just stand by while a daughter or wife as a result of a Sharia kangaroo court for a minor transgression, real or imagined, is dressed in white, buried up to her waist and stoned to death,
Refuse to participate in child marriages.
Are not adherents to their doctrinal hijrah as a deception, tactic, and first step toward ultimate takeover against those who naively, but with the best of intentions, allow them sanctuary in their nations. Their very basic version of "realpolitik."
Are not all in to the use of their doctrinally required deception of presenting the perpetual false face to the non-believer using as an excuse that it is necessary "to the defense of Islam."
So within this context, there remains as yet unknown a good estimate of the actual number of truly "radical" muslims.
