I don't think many other players from that era would thrive in today's game. Only Maravich and a few others like Dr J. I think that was the point the OP was making. Maravich would be better in todays game than his own time, because the loose ball handling rules and up tempo game would fit right into his wheel house.

i am trying to think of a modern physical comp for Pete and I am having a hard time. Reggie Miller comes the closest but he was 6'7
