Just a question. I am 100% Purple and Gold but I have a couple guys at work asking me this question. We have played Tech, ULM, USL, Tulane, but never McNeese.
Have we ever tried to schedule McNeese? Since we play them in basketball, baseball, and softball, why not football?
I for one think that McNeese is by far the second best team in LA, but I know they couldn't hang with the Tigers.
It may be that LSU considers that game a no win situation in that we get whatever recruits we want from the Lake Charles area now. It may be that McNeese demands a home and home to play us.
Who Knows?

God I hope not. At least ULL, LaTech, etc are division I.

Just the idea of this almost had me falling out of my chair.

Prob not, unless its a last minute filler like App St.

McNeese is 1-AA, we don't play any instate 1-AA schools thank goodness. Of course, I'd rather em play McNeese than App State.

Agreed, LSU would play McNeese just like every other state school IF they were Division I.

I hope LSU does not schedule McNeese. Such a game would only be marginally interesting to a few people, not including me.

McNeese being 1-AA, hell didint they beat ULL last year...Hell I think they could very well beat LA TECH, ULM and maybe Tulane...

Some of you are so ignorant and think 1-AA sucks...Go watch a Southland conference game...it will change your mind....

Recruiting is far from perfect....And 1-AA and hell some D-2 players will prove it....

I don't think they suck, it's just that I don't get much enjoyment watching LSU play these caliber teams. My family pays a lot of money for tickets, and nothing about playing McNeese gets me excited. Hell, I'm having a hard time getting excited about the App State even though they knocked off Michigan last year. Yes, I'd rather watch LSU play Tulane, La Tech, UL-L etc. over McNeese.

So glad to see someone touting McNeese's success. However, they are not playing the same game we do. It would be a great game for McNeese, but there's nothing in it for LSU.

Don't we avg playing a DIV 1AA opponent every other year? If so, why not keep that money in state and have McNeasy State and other Div 1AA schools from LA come to BR?

Not quite that often, and the App State game was a late minute filler. However, I'd rather watch LSU play McNeese rather than the Citadel, Western Carolina, etc.

I agree that McNeese would be better than the Citadel, but I really would rather neither. Unless we can't get anyone else, LSU has no reason to risk injury (or, god forbid, a loss) to play one of these teams. LSU is already getting the football dollars in Louisiana, so playing McNeese is not likely to keep revenue at home. Rather, it will just insure that there's no out-of-state revenue coming in.

Is it better than going to watch a Sun Belt conference game?

McNeese beat UL-L last year by 21 at UL-L. they also beat UL-M the last two times they played.

The Sun Belt and Southland conferences play very close to the same level of football.

That's funny. The only reason Toolame gets one is we get such a huge cut of the gate. After all, it's mostly LSU fans.

From a strength of schedule standpoint (BCS ramifications), is LSU better off playing UL-Lafayette or McNeese?

Probably UL-Lafayette, simply because 1AA games don't count in the power ratings.

That has got to be a difference that is not worth measuring.
