The question was “Most exciting”, which doesn’t necessarily mean BEST.

Clearly, the best was 2019.

I’ll go with 2007 as most exciting, as I’ve never been mentally pulled in so many directions as a fan, up and down, and how many things had to fall into place to make it to NOLA for the title.

Jesus. There was no split. EVERY coach agreed at the outset that the BCS championship would determine the college football national championship. The rules don’t change because the media says it should. The AP poll was a component of the BCS formula. Let’s go ahead and call the Dunkel index champion part of the split.

At first they did leaning towards USC because they were dominating but ever since Saban’s run at Bama and the sanctions at Usc it has Trended towards LSU.

i went to all those LSU title games and the 2005 Texas USC Rose Bowl where i had a big sign at the end of the game that said "you didn't win it in 2003 either"

I don't accept that 2003 was a "split." Here's why:

Why did USC say they "won the national championship" in 2003 after beating Michigan in the Rose Bowl, for the "AP" title, and essentially ignoring that the agreed upon BCSNCG hadn't been played yet?................BUT - GREEDILY AND READILY ACCEPTED THAT 'SAME' BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2004 - """IGNORING""" the AP Title they so ludcirously fawned over and proclaimed as the ONLY championship the year before ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

No, not at all. You sound like a Clemson fan. 2003 either. Who cares if people view it as a split?

The game itself in 2007 wasn’t super exciting though.

2019 was the most exciting for me.
