Tiger Stadium "Standing During Games" Policy
Posted on 7/16/08 at 9:27 pm
Posted on 7/16/08 at 9:27 pm
The following new policy is from the 2008 LSU Football Fan Guide, page 19 (page 10 in the pdf file).
What do ya'll think now that this is an official LSU policy?
quote:
POLICY:
LSU encourages fans to be courteous of other fans in
choosing to stand during games. Spontaneous reaction
to plays or significant events is expected and encouraged.
Continued standing during game action when
other fans are sitting is discouraged and will be
addressed by game marshals if complaints from other
fans are reasonable and continuous.
REASON:
Common courtesy dictates that fans should not block
the view of other fans who are seated during game
action.
What do ya'll think now that this is an official LSU policy?

What if we think the entire game is a "significant event"?

i dont think they are talkin about the student section. Nobody in the student section sits...so nobody can complain.

I'm all for standing and cheering, but standing for no reason the entire game is just obnoxious. When you're blocking someone's view, you're not being supportive, you're just being a total jackass. The chairs/bleachers are there for a reason. Just sit when everyone else sits and stand when everyone else stands.

they should remove the chairs and bleachers and sell like 120k tickets and then just pack everyone in. that would be intimidating.

frick that. if someone cant see behind me b/c im standing up.... YOU frickING STAND. with as much as tickets are going for these days, i will pick when and for how long i stand. dont like it? then dont buy a ticket and watch from home. this isnt the opera or ballet, its a football game. if you want to sit, thats fine by me, just dont bitch when i stand

ridiculous, maybe its just because i'm young, but sitting in those seats or on bleachers is more uncomfortable than standing

Dude, I'm pretty sure the person behind you paid for his ticket too. Do you think your $$ is worth more than his???
Unless you are a 18-23 yr in the student section, there is no reason to stand the whole game.
This statement:

Spontaneous reaction to plays or significant events is expected and encouraged.
is a great rule of thumb when standing is appropriate.

agreed...
its because the "old people" in Tiger Stadium complained enough that this is now a policy.
If you aren't standing and screaming when LSU is on defense, what are you doing at the game?
Tiger Stadium is not as loud as it used to be.
Hell, Bryant Denny is louder from what i've experienced.

Half-Time? Time-Outs? Injuries? Theres always a time to sit no matter where or what sporting event youre at. Now dont get me wrong.. Im all for standing while the game is going on no matter who its against or what the score.

its cuz of all the bandwagon fans who arent true fans.

First they charge you and arm and a leg, sometimes a left testicle, and now they tell you that you can't stand during a football game.
I can understand that it is annoying to sit behind a guy that is standing the whole time, but that is one of those things you just need to live with.

How about...I'd rather stand than sit.

How about... you are NOT the only person in the stadium.
Look I really don't care if people stand or sit, but people should be considerate to those around you. I hate when some people think just b/c they bought a ticket they can do whatever they want. Hell everyone bought a ticket!!

Agreed. If someone is standing directly in front of me, it doesn't prove to me that they're a better, more loyal fan than I am. It only proves to me that they're a complete douche.

Well stated policy which allows some leeway by the marshals: “will be addressed by game marshals if complaints from other fans are reasonable and continuous.’
Some of you people obviously do not understand the basis for the policy: i.e. “Common courtesy.”
Paying the price of a ticket, or getting arse-wiped drunk, does not negative the responsibility of “Common courtesy.”

I agree people should be considerate, but people need to realize that when you go to a football game, people will be standing and may stand the whole time. To make a policy about it is stupid. This will lead to people getting kicked out of the game and cause more drama than needed.
And all a ticket guarantees is a seat, not a view of the game. So poop on your everyone else buys a ticket excuse

Yeah you win pal!! frick everyone else, as long as your happy!! You're a douche!!
This is a well written policy. The policy would basically allow standing for every moderately big play in the game.
