Just recently started trading and following the stock market. I’m a student on a budget looking for recommendations on pretty cheap, relatively safe short term stock plays.

No stock should be seen as cheap or expensive because of its per share price anyways since value is more relative to its market cap. This is even more true with the ability to buy fractional shares, where you can just as easily buy $50 worth of Google or Amazon (well over $1,000 per share) as a stock whose per share price is $5.

BTW, if you are still a student then how old were you when to created your account? Or is this just an alter?

<$5 stocks would be about the riskiest filter you could put on stocks. Why?
much safer plays >$5. The number of shares you own doesn't really matter outside of indirectly pointing to your positions market value.

Haha I made my account when I was like 12 as a diehard LSU football fan. Just rarely post on here
