How's the smoke flavor? Can you taste the wood you put in the ash box, or is it all charcoal smoke?

Is the smoke very heavy?

Here's the part I hate to admit. I'm a pit barrel lover, but sometimes it puts too much of the charcoal smoke flavor into the meat, especially poultry.

This grill imparts smoke flavor without the over powering charcoal smoke flavor if that makes sense.

Today on the short ribs I used a rub with no sugar in it, and used cherry chips in the ash box to see if it would pick up some of the sweet smoke flavor. It was noticeable for sure, not overpowering but there.
