USS Cole was an Al Qaeda attack. Iran, while not the brightest bulb of the bunch, is smart enough to not kick the hornet's nest.

I was an adult then. I'm not saying to let them get that close. I understand they got very close the other day. However, these are not terrorists. That I s not their goal.

It's not the small boats that are an issue.
Their little gunboats aren't being driven around by suicidal jihadis.
It's the is it worth it to escalate this dick measuring contest they already lost for Iranians to attempt to seize control of the waters with Russian and Chinese anti-ship missiles.
And that's when things get dicey.
