I have been looking for a quality 4.0L in a cherokee the last few months. Those things are at the point of starting to increase in price.
The 3.8 is a dogshit motor that should never be spoken about. I hate every single thing about it including how the oil plug crossthreads just by looking at it.

The boards are full of similar feelings expressed by 3.8 owners. Sad the manufacturer had to leave a great thing behind. The 4.0 is getting a little pricey. XJ owners know they're selling a rare and desirable power plant even if their vehicle body is beyond crappy. Especially if the engine has been cared for properly.
