The war was fought primarily over slavery. I'm sure there were a hundred other reasons for it, but that one invalidates the rest of them. For me.

If conflict broke out now between the two major factions in the country, what would you attribute it to...just asking.

So why did the north continue to allow slavery throughout the war? Why didn’t the north free their own slaves? Why didn’t the emancipation proclamation free northern slaves?
