I was wondering. Alot of people say they hate to play Saturday Night, LSU Tiger Stadium. Is that any longer true? IS death valley still as fear as it was back in the days?

You know, back before Peta jump on our arse and we can put Mike cage right next to the opposing team locker room door.

It is not half what it used to be.

FACT

The only thing that made LSU any good was when the glorious Longhorns would take pity on the mental invalids of Louisiana and come to BR to beat your arse.

Death Valley is as intimidating in the last 8 years as it ever has been in its entire history.

Anyone who thinks TS isn't as tough to play in now as it used to be couldn't have been part of the LSU/Florida game last year.

But Florida play our team not the entire staidum. Sure I heard all of these people and that flash movie about quotes from people. But In recent years seem to be pretty damn civilized. No more Tiger scare, no more aggressiveness from the fans. Heck VT fans enjoy their time down here and that was a Saturday night.

Saturday nights are certainly feared by opponents. As far as afternoon, ask UGA what is was like for an afternoon game in '03. It came close, by all accounts, to an night game experience.

Saban deserves some credit for his not allowing afternoon games to be seen as "second class" in Tiger Stadium. He made a point of making it clear that LSU would be as ready for an afternoon game as a night game.

LSU's afternoon record is not as good as night at home, but that is largely a function of the fact that the vast majority of afternoon games have been against highly ranked opponents for television. The won/loss record for afternoons would naturally not be as good because of the high concentration of ranked opponents in that record.

I would hope that our visiting fans, especially ooc fans, would enjoy their visit to LSU.

LSU has lost 2 games in the last 3 seasons in Death Valley. Chances of winning are not good for any opponent.

ETA: Thanks Panthera Tigris!

I'm sure fans today are less rowdy. Way too many blue hairs in the rich seats that just sit on their hands. That being said, big night games in TS are still an atmosphere no other college football venue can compare to.

Yeah but what makes it deadly now. That is what I am trying to understand. Is it just the noise factor? Denny-Bryant Staidum, Swamp, Shoe, Big House, All are loud. What make it "DEATH Valley" Now. We have a great team , Don't get me wrong. We no longer have to resort to scare tactics so to speak, with mike the tiger. However... with those thing goes, what make it so "Death Valley" ish?

Brilliant comment. Is that why LSU's record in Tiger Stadium against Texas is 4 wins and 1 loss or put another way Texas is 1 and 4 in Baton Rouge, 1 and 5 in games played in Louisiana.

After the tragedy there LSU fans weren't exactly treating them like Auburn, Bama, Florida fans. Is this a serious statement?

when did they quit putting mike by the visiting teams tunnel?

I think you might be confused because he wasnt there last year, that was only because he was a new Mike and they didn't think he was ready for such a large crowd. He will be there next year I am pretty sure

Please correct me if I'm wrong. In the last 3 seasons, LSU has lost only 2 games at home-Tennessee in 2005 and Arkansas in 2007. We were undefeated at home in 2006 ( 2 losses away at Auburn & Florida ). In fact, we have not lost a Saturday night game since....2002 ( Alabama?) Wow! I am ready to stand corrected since I am only going by my currently enebriated mind.

Yeah, go tell that to the Tennessee fans in '05.
