Does anyone have pictures of the dorms. I've never seen them and I'm curious what they look like.

Currently, yes. People did live in them though. Therefore there are bound to be pictures.

I don't have any pictures, but I visited others (including my brothers) who lived in one or other of the stadium dorms.

South Stadium was newer and had fairly large rooms, much larger than most dorm rooms. It would have been pretty nice had it been air conditioned. The furnishings were pretty plain, but it seemed to be in good shape.

The other dorms, East and West Stadium Dorms were pretty dreary. Small rooms, very old, very spartan. The only attraction for living in them when I was in school was that they were among the cheapest dorms on campus. Again, not air-conditioned. Halls were narrow and dark.

In my mind, I'm already there.

I'm proud to say I lived in a stadium dorm room for 2 weeks. 4 to a room. Bunk Beds. Incredibly small. I was fortunate to get a transfer to Johnston Hall - Basement level. (I'm not sure if this is still a dorm)

my cousin and some of my friends lived there, it was pretty wild at times. they also figured out a way to gack an forth during games without leaving stadium, never had to worry about running out of bourbon in the stadium

All I remember in '73 my freshman year was looking at my choices for a dorm room. Back then as a freshman it was mandatory to stay on campus your freshman year. The cost of the Stadium Dorm rooms was much cheaper then all other dorms. I stayed in old Graham which was just under New Graham in cost. The nicest of the mens dorms was Kirby but were off limits to freshman. My sophomore year I moved to new Graham which was extremely nice. After one semester their I moved off campus. Never got to try Kirby.

A few years back I noticed old Graham was torn down. Was anything ever rebuilt their? Is what I refer to as new Graham still across from the tennis courts.

I remember this guy who stayed in new Graham we gave the nickname Hit-A-Man. Use your imagination and you can probably figure that one out.

This is what used to be Graham Hall. It's complete now and they are very nice.

I live in south stadiun one semester in 1969. It was a lot better than the others. Newer, brighter and 2 to a room. The beds and desk were bolted through the block walls.

Had a roommate decided he did not need his desk. He unbolted it and the desk in the next room over's desk fell to the floor.

The cost for a dorm room in south stadium was $146/semester with out meal plan.

So to get to the dorms did they just leave the stadium gates open or?? Where in the stadium exactly are the dorms?

If you look at the outside of the stadium, especially the north, you'll see a bunch of windows, that's them (although now the Athletic Department has gutted a lot of them to use for office space etc.)

I'm pretty sure the gates to get into the dorms are separate from the ones to get into the stadium.

They are the outside wall of the stadium with separate entrances.

Ohhh that makes more sense I had pictured in my mind them just kind of being off near the concession stands or something

I lived in North in the all of '67. The entrance was separate from the entrance to the stadium itself. North had five floors at that time, and I was on the 5th. No elevators, no A/C. Could stand in the hall way before and during games and see through the windows onto the ramps that led up to stadium seating.

Had to be careful what you wore out in the hall during games.

Was not a "military barracks" in '67, just the lowest rent of all the dorms. I waited too late to apply for housing and that's all I could get. But my roommate did not show up and the rooms were huge, anyway so it wasn't so bad.

Lack of A/C was not so good, but we were less accustomed to everything being airconditioned anyway...most of my high school (Central) was unairconditioned beyond the year I graduated.

Well actually when you walk up the ramps on the inside they are right there with big bars over the windows.

It would suck to be a freshman now and not have tickets and be stuck in the dorm with no place else to go, that would be loud.
