The hell they aren’t. You’ve got what they need, and if they find out you’ve got that, you’re not just a target, you’re done.

Honestly as an orthopedic PA I used to think my position was pretty solid and safe but I certainly am not essential (considering I am working roughly 1 day a week, thank his in salaried) when it comes to everyday needs. Crazy to think the grocery store attendant is more important then I am at this time.

Exactly, try putting up a chicken coop in an HOA neighborhood and watch the shite hit the fan.
I poke fun at growing up out in "the country" (not really, but a hell of a lot more country than where I live now), but man.. we had some cool shite. I grew up with 7 domino chickens whose eggs we ate for years.
My parents always had (and still currently have) a massive garden. They have a standalone cupboard in their house that stores all of the veggies they've grown and canned, which we raid every time we visit. Green beans, canned tomatoes and basil, massive sliced and canned carrots, chopped and canned onions. Plus all the fresh stuff my mom brings to me - heads of green leaf lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.

And that's why you don't live in a large urban area and stay armed.

Not to be an arse, but how was Katrina not a wake up call for you?
But I did go to New Orleans with a boat a couple days afterwards. I saw what happened but realized it was just an isolated scenario, not nationwide.

Wasn't grocery stores already important before this?

I can grow my own vegetables, hunt, fish..can make my own liquor and of course my own smoke too.
I just dont like waiting 3-5 months.

It also shines a light on how beautiful capitalism is. Not being able to buy products and empty shelves is an everyday occurrence for many people in this world while us Americans are used to the exact opposite.

Some folks laugh at people with extra fridges/freezers. We aren’t scrambling for things at grocery store I can tell you that.

I grew up with doomsday parents. None of this is surprising to me.
We moved out west and bought a ranch and a shitload of animals and guns. We were prepared to sustain ourselves indefinitely when society collapsed.
It was actually a lot of fun.
