Howard is a direct link to Chuck, and for multiple reasons, Jimmy wants Chuck to be a distant memory. So, I take his horrible actions as his way of communicating that....and he is Slippin Jimmy.
I also think Howard is only offering him the job to make up for things from the past. Kinda like Kim was accused by the old evicted man of doing nice things to make up for all the bad she’s done.

Nothing about Jimmy or this show just happens for the hell of it. It's not just spite, he's definitely up to something with Howard
