Brought one of my monitors from work to home. I cant get the Citrix Session to extend to both monitors at home.
None of the Google answers are helping me

Is it a virtual desktop or just an application?

Have you searched on YouTube?

I’m pretty sure there’s a server side Citrix config that’s going to prevent you from doing so
Posted on 3/23/20 at 6:41 pm to Fusaichi Pegasus
Probably set that way on the server side.

I work with Citrix technologies a lot but obviously every environment is setup differently.
On our virtual desktops you can hover over the menu at the top, change the desktop to not be full screen and drag the slider over to the 2nd monitor, make full screen again.
This works very poorly if the monitors aren't the same though.

yeah, i'm guessing too. it's been 10+ years since i would consider myself even knowledgeable on Citrix

Can you make them the same resolution? It's going to be pretty funky going from a big stand alone monitor to a laptop screen or something like that.
This pdf shows about what I'm talking about with a much older version of Citrix. You'll use the "full screen" option from the menu at the top though.
This works for us and I don't explicitly remember enabling this feature but it's possible that I did a long time ago.

I mostly work with Netscaler and XenApp but I know a fair amount about XenDesktop or whatever the hell they are calling it now.
Been working on it a lot more since we have hundreds of people working from home.

Yep. I have had Citrix Support straight up tell me they don't support screen scaling.

Nobody is a Citrix expert, not even Citrix, they keep downsizing the last few years
ETA: to answer your question: the only real way to pull it off is it your network admin has enabled RDP for you and installed RDP on the apps portion of the app... This would not be great from a security standpoint, but I'm not one to judge

We've been using Citrix for years. We've asked our IT people about this very issue and were told that it's not possible to use two screens with Citrix.

Well that is just false. We had hundreds using two screens for years.

If you're on a laptop and an extra monitor, make sure in your laptop display settings your scale is set at 100% (and not 150%)
But if you're on Citrix, click that little drop down arrow at the top of your screen and select 'window'. Once it opens in a new window, drag that window so it shows on both displays. After that, press the maximize button and you should be good.

Definitely possible. I’m using three 27” 4K monitors with our Citrix environment right now.

Rock on my man, thanks! I can now pass this information on to any of my clients wanting to do it.
If I could pay you for your work I would

While you Citrix experts are at it, can anyone shed any Light on if things have gotten to the point that you can use the latest generation iPad Pro instead of the Surface Pro?
The battery life and touch screen interface on the latter device simply isn’t as good.
