Just ordered a new trolling motor and need to get a on board charger. What's a good one under $300? TIA for replies.

Anything but BPS branded ones. Get the Minn Kota or Genius you can afford.

How many banks?
$300 is a huge budget for this. Academy sells the minn kota 3 bank for about $150 IIRC

how many banks do you need?...
I had a 3 bank - 2 for 24 volt trolling motor batteries and 1 for starting battery...
found out didn't need that as OB motor has a high amp alternator...ended up cooking the starter battery...
ended up with a minn kota 2 bank for my 24 volt trolling motor and am very pleased with it's performance...
lasted better than the pro mariner...

MK Precision Charger for the win

I have the MK 315D. It's digital and has worked great! The Precision is a lot more expensive. Has features that benefit the high end batteries, AGM and such.

Have a 80lb Ulterra w/2 new group 31 AGMs and a flooded battery for the Merc. Just purchased a Minn Kota PC318 charger for $250 thru my local dealer w/a $50 rebate thru Minn Kota. So far the charger works and charges all batteries as advertised. Set your battery type and walk away.
