STATEMENT:

quote:

Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

How many teams would we see pull a "UCF" and claim national championships? Top 4 seeds?

If it can save one grandma, we should shut it down.

I'd be surprised if they didn't cancel it at this point.

Or games with no crowds.

Why not just play in empty stadiums?

They can't just not have a national champion this year. And the NCAA revenue from this tournament on TV is one of their absolute largest cash cows.

They have to go the empty stadium route.

They simply cannot cancel the Tournament.

Imagine being a player on a team that's actually contending for the national championship this year.

Or a player on a small team that rarely makes the dance and they did this year.

These "prevention" measures are worse than the disease.

I've never seen such an overreaction to a few dozen 80+ year olds dying.

It would be a great opening for the players that say they want to get paid.

Make your own club teams with the players on your current team. Bring in the TV cameras.

Profit.
