The Bo Jackson’s scouting report got me thinking. Athletes that seemed physically unstoppable when you watched them compared to their peers. Athletes like Michael Jordan don’t apply here even though he is the GOAT. Jordan wasn’t physically superior to everyone. Maybe a Wilt Chamberlain, Shaq or even a Lebron James could apply here. My choices are these two:

Boxing- Mike Tyson
Football- Bo Jackson

I think the “what if” adds to both of their legends. Tyson going to prison and Bo getting hurt.

I would still think Bo goes #1 or #2 overall in the NFL draft, even being a RB, in any draft of the last 10 years or so. Especially if he decided against baseball and focused solely on football. The 4.12 forty was hand timed but he still probably ran a 4.30 or lower laser time. Incredible at his size. His size and 40 time would cover any flaws, if there would even be any at all, that might show up at the combine.

Tyson looked invincible at his peak. Power and speed was incredible but he could actually box, unlike a Deontay Wilder. There also weren’t any 6’9 boxers at that time.
Tyson may not have fought many good boxers in his prime but he still seemed on another level of what anyone had ever seen in boxing. His opponents were scared to death of him.
I can’t think of any others that left me in awe like these 2 did.

I didn’t get to see Babe Ruth play. I also didn’t watch enough hockey to appreciate Gretzky. But I would think Gretzky would fall in the Jordan category that they were the most skilled rather than physically superior over their peers.

Jim Brown was 6'2, 231 and frequently the fastest guy on the field.

For my money, compared to the size of the average player at that time, Brown was the most physically dominant. He was also a great football player.

Ok. You want dominate or physical???? If you want physical it's LeBron James. He is a freak athlete. If you want dominant then Ruth and Gretzky are you answers.

Just look at SportsCentruy top 20 and there is your list. I am sure you can add Shaq to the list as well.

Shaq, Wilt Chamberlain, and Giannis are the two guys who have dominated the most using as exclusively their athletic ability. None wow with their skills but all are just too big, strong, and athletic to be defended well.

I'm not a golf guy but wasn't Tiger Woods so dominant that courses had to alter themselves to make it more difficult for Woods?

eta: Apples to oranges I know but imagine if other sports changed the dimensions of the playing field because 1 guy was just killing everyone.

Except you got a guy who wore 23 who won more and took over games and guys who in Randy Johnson or Pedro who could shut you down in the playoffs. So no Bron is not the most dominant guy ever.

Jim Brown and Lebron are good choices. I’m no fan of Lebron but he would probably be dominant in football if he had chosen that path.

Easiest answer for me would be Roy Jones Jr. It was insane how much physically superior he was to every opponent in the ring. Guy had the speed and reflexes of a lightweight while weighing 160, 170+.

Yes they did. He was unreal for about 6 years. Greatest individual athlete ever. What he did is unheard of in golf . It was a joy to watch.

Wouldn't Eddie Merckx be the better example of dominant rider?

Basketball is Lebron, you can hate him all you want but you're an idiot if you deny his combo of size & athleticism

Football I agree with Bo.

Baseball is tough since I don't follow that closely but isn't Trout's speed/strength a major piece of his hype?

Lance Armstrong
