A lot of the hate stims from the basketball death penalty they got back in the day. Old school fans blame them getting caught cheating on LSU. I sat through a whole lesson in Louisiana History at ULAla on this subject.

Trust me - LSU had nothing to do with that train wreck. The coach totally lost control of that program with a lot of help from big money Lafayette “supporters” and a big push from the higher ups in the old Gulf States Conference that we’re mad because USL was early to the integration game.
