Not really. They mostly use 420HC and some of there higher models use 154CM or so but they must have junk heat treatment now. I have two folding Applegates and the newer, larger one was junk from the get-go. The mini I picked up in Germany in 2004 is a great knife though. Wouldn't buy a Gerber for more that a beater.
