Is all excitement for MLB The Show gone?

I said this was the first year I was going to skip it, but the changes to franchise mode will suck me back.
I wasn't going to get it, not because I don't enjoy it (I still play it pretty often) but I pretty much just play franchise. It was the same franchise mode every year. This year finally seems like they are putting a lot of changes into franchise mode.
The ability to edit teams has me really excited. I'm hoping they fill out the MLB teams with 30 college teams and I'll be locked into that for damn sure.

Kind of. Sports games in general tend to get that way, only so much you can do or change even if it wasn't yearly.
I doubt I get it, also didn't get NHL this year for the first time in ages.

The Show is probably the only sports game I'll buy going forward.
I've been done with the repetitiveness of Madden and this years 2k being subpar has soured me on that.
There are way too many other games that are actually worth the money.

I'm in the same boat - was ready to skip 20 until the announced changes to franchise mode. Really all I played in 19 - really excited about the Full Minors being available on Day 1.

this is what sucked me back in. they actually hired the main roster guy from operation sports to be a part of this effort to include all real minor league players.
While these folks always did a great job with the rosters, I felt that the tinkering ultimately screwed up everything else (trade logic, salaries, progression, etc). I would much rather be able to use the official rosters and ratings, and with the inclusion of minor league players now, it'll let me do just that.

I might not get it opening day but I'll get it eventually. It's the best online sports game IMO. I appreciate the fact you can field a solid DD squad w/o spending a dime. Until that changes I'm on board.

Last year was one their best as far as content + gameplay goes (for DD).
I know my group of friends are excited for the online franchise mode to be back.

make sure you go in with the expectation that it isn't really an online "franchise" per se, it's really just an online league function. Apparently it either doesn't accommodate multiple seasons at all, OR it's very limited. Either way, it's not supposed to serve as a franchise mode extended over into online play.

Can’t wait to throw some beanballs at Altuve and Bregman. Last year I would intentionally bean some of the Marlins in retaliation for them hitting Acuna in real life, and it was oddly a little satisfying

I’ve been teetering on the decision to buy it. I’m not a big MLB fan in general, but I’ve heard such great things about the game. Even for the casual baseball fan, would anyone recommend?

It's the only game I have bought every single year. It's also the only game I play pretty much year round.

It’s been a good game for the most part and I bought a PS4 solely for it like 6 years ago.
My only complaint is how they have lowered the skill gap in only play so much to cater to lesser skilled players and also not fixed clear bugs with hitting and timing in H2H games.

I'm going to be attempting to change all 30 teams, with rosters, to college baseball teams. Might be quite the project, but if I am able to get it done, it'll make this game an absolute blast.

gonna do the top 5 in the best 6 conferences for the 6 divisions, or just the top 30 teams overall and divide them up?

I began putting together a list. It won't be top 5 in 6 conferences. That would leave too many good SEC and ACC teams out. A lot will depend on what logos are in the vault, and if it will be allowed to share. I'll see that once the game releases.
I have a list of about 45 teams. I'll narrow that down to fit. I began somewhat breaking down divisions, and I'll keep conferences together as much as possible.

There are typically always great NCAA logos in the vault and I believe they started doing something where previous year logos are being carried over. I may be wrong, so don’t quote me on that
