My favorite album of all time, and was practically guitar bible for me when I picked the instrument up many years ago.
It was such a whirlwind of circumstance for this album to happen & upon listening you can hear it.
Clapton being tormented by unrequited love for George Harrison’s wife, the happenstance situation of Duane Allman and his band being in Miami at the time of recording and agreeing to join the album only 3 tracks in.
Agreed with OP, Bobby Whitlock was a catalyst of the greatness in this album, just unbelievable soul in his vocals.
