Who is the future at LSU in terms of position players?

Cabrera is the “star”, and while he is formidable, he’s a B type prospect.

Look at the Junior class. He’s the only homegrown guy left.

Soph class has guys that can’t break into the bottom of a below average lineup. Beloso is a program guy. That’s fine. But no star power.

Doughty looks like a guy in the Freshman class. They’ll lose Hampton to football eventually. Travinski & Arnold could be something in time I guess.

But where are the dudes? The state of the program in regards to position players is going to be a problem really soon. You can only patch so much with JUCO guys.

Cabrera has shown flashes (this weekend included) of being a first round prospect, but he also has hit his fair share of slumps (though I think last year was due to his injury).

I think Beloso is more than just a "program guy." He might not project well at the next level, but he has the potential to be a great player here. I also wouldn't write off Gio. He could make a big jump at the plate next year ala Andrew Stevenson.

You didn't even mention the best player in this freshman class so far. Milazzo is a stud behind the plate and has shown that he can hit. He might wind up being one of the best catchers to ever play here. Doughty and Hampton both have the tools as well.

Can you honestly say the offense improves next year when you lose Cabrera, Mathis & Garza? It’s not even any good this year to begin with

Man I like Milazzo, but he’s going to be a defensive guy first. His offense won’t be a negative but there are holes in his approach

Beloso will eventually need to start pulling the ball for some power. He hasn’t been bad but the shift is fricking with him. He wants to hit everything to the left side & LSU needs more than that out of him.

And I’m not hating on Cabrera. He certainly can be a high pick but I don’t think he’s going to carry you in a sense that some of LSU’s past team leaders have.

Again, have some foresight & see where this is going.
