I'm not saying he sucks but his stock seems to be climbing to an area I wouldn't be comfortable taking him. Back end of round 1 early rd 2? Sure.

teams desperate for QB play I think tends to make them squint and see what they want to see with some of the prospects

Russ Wilson was a 60.9% college passer. Mahomes 63.5%.

They also played in a Power 5 conference.

Agreed. If he’s there at 24 and we take him, I’ll be happy. But I don’t want to trade up to #5 or #12 to get him. We have other needs that rookies will have to fill and we don’t have that many picks this year.

I get it. Just makes ya think 9 teams passed on Mahomes. We look back and say How? Russ went in the 3rd rd. Watson at 12. Rodgers at 24. Evals are just all over the place. You trust in SP and shoot your shot if he likes em

These are posts from a should we draft Mahomes thread. Message board QB talk is just ridiculous

quote:

It's great if Sean really likes him but I'd be worried drafting a college QB from a spread offense like that. How many successful QBs have come out of the Air Raid offense?

quote:

Not sure Mahomes is worth anything higher than a 3rd. He is a high risk proposition.

quote:

The truth is the guy sucks. He plays in an air raid offense but has a weird throwing motion, a weak arm, and terrible footwork

quote:

I agree that he has terrible footwork and came from a gimmick offense. He has not had to call plays in the huddle or play under center

quote:

will melt even at 32.

quote:

I pick Watson at 11th pick. Patrick is a 3rd rd selection

quote:

If they want a QB with a cannon arm that can play backup QB I hear Kapernick is looking for work. Plus you'll probably gain a compensatory pick just for signing him.

quote:

I don't see him as first round material, though I wouldn't HATE it with our 2nd first round pick. I think he would be really nice 2nd round value, amazing 3rd round value

quote:

Pick 42 or later on a QB... No world beaters at QB coming out of college. D Watson is the leader after him...meh...

quote:

I agree. Saw some highlights that reminded me of Manziel, in a bad way

quote:

I'm sure it would, I still wouldn't draft him with anything higher than a 3rd possibly.

Meh. “Power 5” has become a buzz word. There are some terrible teams in those conferences. You still gotta go with the tape regardless
