FSB Main Event - Fantasy Baseball League

There is a successful fantasy football league on this board that has 24 owners. It is run as two separate 12-team leagues where the two winners of each league face off at the end. It is a great league. I am interested to see if there is enough interest on this board for a fantasy baseball version?
I'd prefer to keep it to just posters on TD but dont think there would be enough interest. So we can open it up: anyone welcomed to join. If you have buddies that would play, invite them to join. In a house league? Get some of your house league owners on board!
24+ owners (the more the better).
Would like it to operate as separate 12 team leagues.
Standard Roto Scoring (H2H likely wouldnt work for this format)
Would prefer higher stakes to make it worth while, like minimum $200+ but thats negotiable.
Individual leagues are chosen at random (cant pick & choose who you want in your league). Snake drafts. Likely KDS to determine draft order. KDS = Kentucky Derby Style: Random drawing to determine 1 - 12. Whoever drew #1 gets to pick what draft position they want. #2 then picks their draft position. And so on...
Payout structure: league would pay out top 2 places of each individual 12-team league. The top 4-6 overall teams of everyone entered would also get paid. So you're actually competing against everyone entered, not just your individual 12-team league. Example of the payout structure would be something like this: Payout Structure
If you're interested, you can post in this thread or see the sign up sheet. No one has to commit now. Just drop in and say hi if you're interested. Google Sign Up Sheet
Standard roto league. Tentative rules linked here: Rules
Again anyone welcomed to join. Preferably TD posters first. But if that doesnt work, then bring your buddies in.

In.
Jotted some ideas down at lunch after my posts with Gyno. We’ll probably have to make a google sign up sheet so we can gather interest from outside of TD. Let’s hash out details here first, create the fantrax league, then shop the league if we can’t get minimum 24 teams here.
Noticed that Fantrax has their own high stakes leagues ($250/$500/$1,000) to join but nothing like NFBC.
Worked on some different buy in and pay out structures too.

No trades tho?
What are we thinking roster size? 50?

Make the entry fee $5 and I'm in.

May have to keep scoring categories standard too (with wins & avg kept in) just to make it easier to fill. If people only know standard scoring from their yahoo/espn leagues, then they may not want to throw in a $200+ entry for a scoring system slightly different than they are familiar with. Even NFBC uses standard categories. Can be discussed later...
12 team default leagues on yahoo/espn/etc... What is the roster build like? 3 OFs with two Uti spots? I cant remember

I was thinking 27.
There are 50 player rosters but those are generally Best Ball Draft & Hold leagues.
While I like the idea of zero in-season management, I can't imagine finding 24 people that are prepared to draft a team that can appropriately weight the values of mid-season prospect call-ups and mid-inning RPs into their overall rankings. It's a whole different ballgame.

I can be moved off of this. I was just thinking what some issues would be if posters bring in buddies that no one here knows? No trades would alleviate possible issues and just make the league easier to manage.
If trades are allowed, we'd need a strong group of commissioners to monitor moves.
Not sure on roster size. Depends on which positions we play with. 3 OFs? 5 OFs? MI & CI? How many Uti spots?
I wouldnt want it too big that it kills FAAB waivers.

C-2
1B-1
2B-1
SS-1
3B-1
OF-5
CI-1
MI-1
UTL-1
P-9
BN-5
But could vary. I saw different iterations with 7 BN spots.

I don’t know much about NBFC but I was browsing thinking about joining, it seemed like the default was 50 man rosters with no add/drop. Seems like trades were allowed tho
I’m not against anything. Just talking

Shows you how long its been since I played a standard league. I didnt realize 2 catchers was the norm now

No trades in NFBC. 50 man rosters are for best ball & draft and hold leagues.
The regular NFBC roto 12-team leagues are 30 man rosters, no trades, FAAB. But they also play with 2 catchers, 5 OF, 2 Uti spots.
NFBC 15-team roto leagues may have a different bench size. Not sure

I read a couple of league constitutions in the high stakes Fantrax leagues. Some cautiously allowed trades through Commissioner approval.
My goal would be for this thing to grow towards 36+ owners in the future. Meaning plenty of randoms who buy in and compete. Easier to avoid collusion melt downs if you just nip trades from the get go.

Yeah, apparently we're dinosaurs who play a tainted version of the game.

Monitoring. May be in pending format

Copied the rules template from an NFBC Main Event League here. Google Doc
Created a payout calculator to play with different entry fees and payouts here. Google Sheets
Started to tinker in the set up of the Fantrax league Fantrax
If someone knows someone off the board who wants to play, I made a signup sheet until we can get the Fantrax league finalized. Might not be necessary but just in case.
