So the thing that made me decide to go passenger rated is almost every 1/2 ton truck you buy will come with passenger rated tires. With 1:2 tons their load carrying capacity is easily covered by the load capacity of a passenger tire.

If you did a ton of heavy towing I would say ok the stuffer sidewall in the lt load range E might help you out. But otherwise all it does is add weight and stiffens ride when not needed.
