You guys recommend getting TV's with roku instead of smart TV's?
Who is responsible for updating the software on the smart TV?
Roku keeps my set top boxes updated, even my 5 year old Roku.
Is the TV manufacturer going to keep sending out updates? My opinion is they are more interested in selling new TVs, not incurring expenses on already sold TVs.
Roku recently ended support on my 7 year old Roku 2. That box had been relegated to my tailgating equipment as I get newer, more powerful Rokus every 2 or 3 years, upgrading the functionality of my much more expensive TV.
Another consideration, what if you want to change streaming platforms? The smart TV is trapped on Roku, AppleTV or Amazon Fire.
