JBE's goal the whole time was to get Louisiana's teachers to the southern regional average in salary. We aren't that far off now.

In 2017-18, the regional average was $52,178 and Louisiana's average was $50,359. Those numbers are a little old and the regional average has grown a bit, but we are definitely close now if you consider $1,500 in direct increases plus the increased funding to the school districts themselves.

It wasn't $1500, it was $1000 for certified teachers and $500 for support staff. So only $1000 applies to the getting us to the average.

It's funny how you think the most craven political animal in Louisiana since Edwin Edwards really gives a damn about the "plight" of teachers.

They're just a vote farm to JBE and even when they raise holy hell about a reversal on a campaign promise, he still gives them just $500 and that's basically gas money for one or two tanks per month.
