It is what it is. After the Bengals take Joe as the number one pick in the draft, they will hold the rights to him for five years. Hence, at that point, Joe doesn't really have any other choice but to play for them. At least until he fulfills his rookie contract.

For Joe, Cincinnati will be a fun place to be because it is so close to his parent's home and also because that's where his girlfriend and probably his future wife is from.

And who knows, maybe the Bengals' owner will try to get the monkey off his back and try to win a Superbowl for a change. I mean, you only live once so why not?

Nonetheless, I'm not going to lose sleep over Joe Burrow cause he is soon to become a mega-millionaire and if he wants a change of scenery when his rookie contract comes to a conclusion, then more power to him.

Former #1 pick (1975) Steve Bartkowski has give Joe advice:

quote:

Bartkowski told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram he advised Joe Burrow to refuse to play for the Cincinnati Bengals if (when) they select him first overall in the upcoming NFL Draft in April.
....

Bartkowski was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the first overall pick in the 1975 NFL Draft. The Falcons were an absolute dumpster fire during his tenure there, posting a winning record just three times in the decade he played there. Bartkowski views the current Bengals as being in a similar situation to the one he entered with the Falcons in the 1970s.

“It’s not the best organization,” he said about the Bengals. “You know, times change, things change. Atlanta wasn’t a good organization until Arthur Blank bought the team. It was a terrible organization. They didn’t know the right hand from the left to be honest.

“I know what it’s like to go to a bottom-feeder team. I’d hate to see that happen to him to be honest. They beat me up. I spent more time at the hospital recuperating from injuries my first three years than I did throwing touchdowns. It was tough.”
