Why would it , unless some improper action could be proven in connection with the arrest?
Not how it works. LE testimony is based almost entirely on "credibility" of the officer. If he isn't deemed credible, even relating to something he does off the job, then prosecutors won't use him to testify. This guy, being a Trooper, probably wasn't making a ton of non-traffic related arrests but those will definitely get looked into by the DA's office. It is almost pro forma that the DA will just dismiss any pending cases this guy had. What are they going to do? Put him on the stand in prison orange to testify? Past cases will get brought back up by defense attorneys and the same issue applies. Would the jury have listened to his testimony favorably if they knew he was a pedophile?
The standard is usually that if he was the only officer testifying then they will vacate the sentence and let the guy he arrested go. If there were other officers present or physical evidence, then the DA may decide to fight it. This played out with the DEA guys from Hammond a while back as well and tons of cases quietly went away.
DA's are much, much more willing to deal if the defense attorney is discreet about it. No one wants to drag all of this out in open court.
