I’m excited but don’t have that fever for fishing right now. I’ve been fishing Grand Isle since a kid and once late March rolls around my brothers and I would be there almost every weekend.
I still have hunting fever though. A lot of my weekends until hunting season starts will be spent making improvements to my properties.
Growing up dad used to talk about the seasons we go through in life regarding hunting and fishing. Spent many years balls to the while saltwater fishing while not hunting as much. Other times balls to the wall. It seems my brothers and change every 3 years or so. I’m sure I’ll be back spending most of time saltwater fishing in 2 years and will ease up on hunting.
We have discussed getting rid of our place in Grand Isle because there’s just too many damn people on that island now and buying a place in Venice. It would be tuff for us to make that jump though. We’ve fished Grand Isle since we were old enough to hold a fishing and know the island so well and we can catch fish regardless of conditions. Just years of experience knowing where to fish if the wind is blowing a certain way, what the tides are doing, etc

quote:I would love to have a camp on the island, I plan to one of these days.. but you’re right, it’s a shite show down there during the summer. I love winters down there... it’s quiet, easy fishing without launching a boat, and big arse salty oysters
