I picked him up in the 15th round of my fantasy draft this morning. I think if he could be a solid 3 but hopefully the second receiver behind colston.

Everything out of Saint's camp indicates a very productive season on his end. If training camp goes well he has as good a chance as anyone to be the number 2.

He has looked good and I predicting that he will have a productive season. Other than Colston, Drew B. spoke highly of Meachem and Arrington. The receiver corps could get younger very quickly.

I'm just hoping I didn't waste a last round pick on him.

I've rarely been wrong on anything Saints-related before (at least on this board), but I hope that Meachem is the first big X by my name.

How does it work picking players two weeks before camp even starts?

does it matter? its not a competitive league and I got bored.

I'm in atleast two or three leagues every year with friends. The one I just joined is a random league off of yahoo.

I really don't care.

I was disappointed when the Saints made this pick, not surprised when he was a bust last year and am not expecting him to do much this year. I always thought he was overrated even going back to Tenn. However, I am high on Arrington. I think he is going to contribute this year and turn out to be a great player in this league.

Really? Was it his blazing speed? His height? His owning a pretty good LSU defense his junior year? Or perhaps it was his overall All-SEC production?

Did you think this before the draft or are you basing it solely on the mini camp reports?

Who did you want them to pick and how did they do last year?

Are there any posts before training camp last year proving your prognostication talents?

Having Laron whiff on an interception when he was covered like glue and having the ball stick in his chest sure was him owning...

I love when people use this as a reason why he's awesome because "he played well against LSU"...what's your point? Why don't you say he had like 500 yards against Cal...

because mook is an LSU fan and I assumed he watched that game. Everybody had Meachem rated extremely high and he was a great value pick there. It sucks that he didn't play at all last year, but nobody would have predicted it.

Greg Olsen: had 39 receptions for 391 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Paul Posluszny: Named the starting middle LBer for the Bills and had 26 tackles before breaking his arm in week 2.

Joe Staley: Named the starter of K. Harris at right tackle and played every down on his side of the ball in 2007.

Zach Miller: Finished his rookie year with 44 grabs for 444 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Sidney Rice: Finished his rookie season with 31 receptions for 396 yards and four touchdowns.

Aarron Sears: named starter at left guard from Week 1 and did not disappoint, garnering a 2007 NFL All-Rookie award for his efforts.

Also, Alan Branch and Chris Houston who did nothing last year.

These are all people I would have considered higher than Meachem. I was really hoping they would trade the pick after Aaron Ross went off the boards.

Find your way over to the Saints board more often. There's far too much ignorance on here.

Everyone here knows I'm not the biggest Meachem fan...but hindsight is 20/20 and there weren't really many options out there when we drafted him.

The only one besides Branch and Houston(who you admitted did nothing last year) that would not have been a reach(according to "experts") was Olsen, I think. And I thought he was kinda overrated. I think he had like 1 touchdown reception his last year at Miami. Trading the pick might not have been a bad move, but was anybody really willing to trade up at that point? The Saints were kind of stuck there, and wound up taking the best player left on their board(I assume) at a position that was somewhat of a need after the loss of Joe Horn. I don't think any blame can be placed on them. It could only be placed on Meachem himself or the football gods.
