Lots of people are still missing the bigger picture about the Left’s motives

For the last 3 years, their antics are solely about keeping themselves out of prison or from hanging for treason.
It’s way beyond wanting to continue exploiting us with their criminal hustles, with Trump being in the way. Most of their secret hustles have been cut off. They could still retire with their millions, but their money is not the main issue for them.
They are desperately trying to avoid facing inevitable justice. Understand that, and the irrational behavior of people like Romney makes more sense.

The truth is, most, and nearly all the elected politicians in Washington are ok with playing the game as long as they get a slice. There are a few that try to overturn the apple cart, but they have no real power to do so.
Trump does have that power, and they hate him for not simply playing along.

I agree, but I don't think the issue is going to prison.
They are now definitely in 'Save your arse' mode. But it's about their own individual elections and chairs.
We don't hear the old term 'coat tails' much these days. I think 2020 is going to remind folks. If Trump is a dominant candidate in Nov. then a lot of Dems won't bother going to the polls. That means a lot of Dem senators, congressmen, governors, state reps, etc. are in trouble. They know this. They are getting ready for it.

Then why are certain leftists in such a panicking frenzy for the last 3 years? Why didn’t they get this bad every other time an R was in power? Why bring so much attention to themselves instead of laying low (or putting on the normal “I hate Republicans show”) and waiting until the football gets passed back to them in the usual 8 year cycle and they can reinstall their henchmen?
Because they know they’ll be facing justice.

The outlook of the 2020 election with Dems not having a prayer was completely unknown 3 years ago. They went in panic mode before he was even elected. They knew why he was running and what it would mean for them if he won.

Pops taught me that rational people make rational decisions. If they do something that appears irrational you don't have all of the facts. As a consultant this has severed me well.
I think it's deeper than saving their political careers (although that is a primary driver). These guys have family and friends tied up in all kinds of shite. If the house of cards were to fall, it goes much deeper than a disgraced ex-congressman retiring with millions. Their family and friends won't get the protection they get; can't use "its all politics" air cover. Their cronies will go to jail, and some will turn on them....then they go to jail. It's nearly a battle of life and death for them.
