Bloomberg the candidate can contribute more $ to the DNC than he can as a donor

Think about it. If Bloomberg was JUST a donor, he is somewhat limited by Campaign Finance Laws. As a candidate he can put as much of his own money into negative Trump ads as he wants and every Democrat candidate benefits. They know he's not going to be a contender. This is just another loophole used by the Dems in their attempt to take out Trump.

If true that was very smart.

Counterpoint: they still have to choose a candidate.

Well, spending a couple billion in a losing effort isn't too smart.

Good point and damn, but Trump has a lot going for him and will overcome that just like Hillary’s billion+

He also gets the “lowest unit rate” for his tv ads as long as he’s in the race.

I would think he could run whatever negative ads he wanted personally, no?
I know he couldn't donate to the DNC or to a PAC, but he could just bypass that if he wanted I would have thought.

Couldn't he do it without being a candidate, like Tom Steyer with the "Need To Impeach" TV campaign to help Democrats in the 2018 midterms?

It would be a poor decision as a businessman, but as a candidate... Plus it is a way to launder money into the DNC when he drops out.

But, I thought you said he wasnt' a real candidate?

if I had $5B and felt spending $1B was the only chance to save the country from George Soros, I'd probably do it

You don’t think he’ll see a return on this investment in some way no matter how it turns out?

That $ can be donated to other candidates, Super Pacs etc. So it can be used by the DNC to fund other candidates.

On paper, of course he's a real candidate. There's no real debate that he could possibly win the nomination.

Yeah and it is fine, if Bloomy wants a celebrity feud, well, he is taking on the Champ, I would wish him luck(he's damn sure gonna need it)

This just doesn’t ring true for me. His tv spots are about Bloomberg and how great he is. This is a deluded candidate with too much money. Why not just create a massive superpac with Trump attack tv spots?

Then what did you mean by "They know he's not going to be a contender."
