I really enjoyed my work visit to Concord, wish I could've stayed longer. Favorite restaurant was The Barley House, directly across from the NH State Building.
Word of caution, a shopkeeper told me NH had stupidly high property taxes. Just did a quick search, the state average is 2.2%, third highest in the US. Numbers wise, a $250k house will have about $6000/year property tax in Merrimack County (Concord).

quote:Right, but they have no sales tax and no state income tax. That should even out, or come close.

Total side note: NH has the wackiest legislative system. That small state has 400 members of the House and only 24 Senators.

Fourth largest in the English speaking world, with the UK Parliament, US Congress, and Parliament of Canada being larger. And each state representative earns an annual salary of $100.
Also, there is the Executive Council in NH that shares duties with the Governor. From Wikipedia:
quote:
The Executive Council advises the Governor on all matters and provides a check on the governor's power. While the governor retains the right to veto legislation passed by the New Hampshire General Court, and commands the New Hampshire National Guard, the council has veto power over pardons, contracts with a value greater than $10,000, and nominations. The Executive Council Chambers have been located in the New Hampshire State House since the chambers were added to the capitol in 1909.

Enjoy the Maple Syrup and Covered bridges

Wrong state baw.
Where I'm from in NH every town has a covered bridge and a sugar shack. It may not be as well know for maple syrup but there are plenty of baws that still get out to their sugar shacks in February and March and make their own syrup for the year.
Also, to the OP, go check out the Lakes Region in the summertime. Wolfeboro is the model summer vacation town. There's plenty of hiking nearby with an easy hike up Mt Major. Bike Week isn't nearly as big as it used to be but Weirs Beach and Laconia are the hot spots in early June.
