I am excited about going back to a 4-3. Bo did great things here. We will see if he can replicate that. One thing is for sure guys, he will have all the talent he needs immediately. So we will know pretty soon.

Ready to see some 1st round DTs coming out of LSU again. It would’ve never happened with DA, because all he wants the DL to do is hold gaps

I don’t know about “don’t know football”. I agree that we ought to be more aggressive defensively, but Aranda has a genius scheme that can work at a high level with any level of talent. I just think with the dudes we got in the secondary that we basically should do whatever it takes to get a pass rush and let those guys go man-to-man. And now that we have an offense that can score quickly, I think being aggressive makes all the more sense. I don’t know a ton about defensive schemes and X’s and O’s, but those are my general thoughts.

Exactly, they need to look at a sample games to see how defense was doing: Giving up 152 points vs Ole Miss, Vandy, Texas, and Alabama is not exactly stopping the spread. We were lucky with such a potent offense that kept us ahead in the games despite the defense.

man you guys are in for it. Aranda was a top 5 coordinator... who almost never allowed big plays.. that's how you win games... and 4-3 is an outdated philosophy against the spread. this thread is pathetic and truly shows just how out of touch our fans are.

lol

I don't remember Bo being particularly attacking or aggressive. ppl were really on him early in his first LSU run because it seemed like we played too much zone.

(not saying he/ the defense wasn't good. just funny how the narrative changes)

Refresh my memory. Other than La Tech, whom did we dominate on defense in 2007?

With the proliferation of spread offenses, just about everyone will have a bend but don’t break defense

It doesn’t get much better than what LSU did to teams this year of defense.

It’s a new era of football, offense beats defense most days. You need to adjust. This is a new breed of football

people who are so happy to be back to Bo and the 4-3 to get more pressure please read below:

Sacks Under Bo:
2006: 39
2007: 37
2008: 28

Sacks under Aranda:
2016:36
2017:39
2018:34
2019:37

so... where are you getting this false hope from? Just curious. and Aranda's defense wasnt really about rushing the passer. so what does that say about Bo's?

Now days DC's use four three defenses and three four defenses fairly similar in a 4 3 you drop off a defensive end in coverage it becomes a 3 4 In a 3 4 if you rush an outside linebacker it becomes a 4 3 comme ci comme ça

I wasn't tired of any part of the 2019 LSU Tigers defense.

I agree totally. Teams no longer feared our defense because we weren't aggressive. I'm ready to go back to our aggressive defenses we had before Aranda!

I hope I’m wrong, but I think next season, a lot of you guys are going to appreciate just how good Dave Aranda was, now that he’s gone.

With our athletes we're meant to be aggressive, not scheme like pussies.
