This may be the best article on the Surgisphere stuff.
LINK
But I think it's unwise to speculate that they are somehow in cahoots with some big drug company, as their database was also the basis for a paper that found ivermectin (a very cheap, common, generic drug) to be hugely beneficial against COVID-19, with the result that places like Peru and Bolivia practically decided to give almost their entire populations ivermectin.
Instead of a conspiracy, the more likely thing seems to be bad database management on the part of Surgisphere. To me, it looks like incompetence.

It's not incompetence if many of the problems point to totally fabricated data.
This MD was on it from the start.

Nationwide testing numbers still look good. Today, for the first time in a few days, the 7-day average of new cases dropped below the average of the prior week.
So, total new cases are down, but testing is up 19% this week compared to the prior week. That's seen the positive test percentage drop from 5.4% to 4.5% -- and getting under 5% is a significant landmark in our fight against the disease.
That means that we are still eliminating the virus at a solid rate.
I also don't expect the protests to matter very much. The Japanese study showing that transmission was 20 times more likely indoors vs outdoors was very convincing, and that's why closing parks and playgrounds was always dumb.
Oh, and only 453 deaths nationally reported today, the lowest number since March.
