because a large faction think parents choose schools because of sports when in reality that is the vast vast minority...

Completely agree. Very few people pick schools because of sports, and I think the answer is to focus on those few kids who do. I know it’s a lot of legwork, but I think with some investigation and allowing everyone to report infractions (not just official complaints from a school), it’s pretty easy to figure out when a kid has been illegally recruited because of a sport. Make that’s it kid sit out for his whole high school or switch schools. But don’t punish the other kids!! These rules are punishing kids who are doing nothing wrong, while several illegally recruited kids are sliding through because they’re not being reported.
