T Moss was the best TE LSU has had in a long time...could block, good hands, ran good routes. But he was not exactly speedy or agile which is why his YAC was pretty poor (except on a totally busted coverage in OU game). Gilbert has all of Moss' good points and he can flat out run!

Arik was known to outrun safeties when he got going. I'm more worried about him being able to hold the edge and help out in Pass pro if needed. We all know he has more than enough speed and size to be an effective receiving weapon.

One of my favorite recruits in this class and he is also an EE so he should be on campus already or will be soon. He'll be pushing for a starting spot in the spring

You know, I'd argue Foster Moreau was a better TE. Great size and blocking ability. Plus, he caught essentially everything that was thrown to him. The problem was that until this year LSU just treated the TE position as a 3rd OT

Gilbert will take a little time to develop. It's a massive jump coming from HS where you are heads and shoulders (literally) bigger and much more athletic than your competition to SEC ball. Hopefully fans won't put absurd expectations on the kid from day one.
