Increasing the pay scale will not encourage useless people. You telling me with people offering high wages the drug problem will go away? Why is Hollywood addicted to drugs?
I’ll pay you $75 a hour right now, You will work hard for a week hopefully. Soon as you get your first paycheck, you will become useless. You will call in to go shopping with your wife because of Christmas. You will call in in attend your child’s b-ball, football, or etc game. You will call in because your truck was broken into. You will call in because your Truck is broken down.
This is all facts.

So let me address this cluster frick, you aren't paying 75/hour, if you were you would have no problem getting people, fricking zero.

people that normally make 75/hour don't work weekends. But you go grab a industrial guy down here in swla and pay him that, he isn't calling in for shite.

So wtf, it sounds like you are working these guys as slaves. Of course people are not going to work 14 on/1 off indefinitely. Jesus fricking christ. Of course they want to attend their kids game etc.

Sounds to me like you are a self obsessed douche of a boss who expects people to be married to the job 24/7. Newsflash, you gonna have to pay more than 75/hour to make someone be like that.

I will say this, in industry, our contractors don't have a terribly tough time finding people because they pay and treat them as the professionals they are.

This is the biggest issue with plant/manufacturing/trucking jobs. Most people don't want to work an 11pm-7am shift, 70 hours a week, constantly on the road, weekends and holidays, etc. They will take less money to not have to work that kind of schedule.
