My 16 year old nephew had a two year sexual thing with his smoke show teacher ... and she got away with it. He eventually graduated and she was moved to another school but she got away with it.
He's had a thing for older women since.
Women teachers do this more often than most realize. When women are in their 30s they are at their sexual peak and they have all the young boys to choose from at their disposal if they are teaching HS. He just turned 30 ... he has a 44 year old MILF living with him for six years now.
I think this is far more prominent in the South between white females and younger males than anywhere else in the country.

It’s hard to know the general risk because we don’t know how many actually get away with it. If they get away with it, then we don’t hear about it. That said, no sex is worth risking your career.
I heard a quote one time that made sense: “Never have an affair with someone who has less to lose than you do.” If you’re an adult and your partner is a teenager, you have far, far more to lose.
