New Iron... Mizuno or Taylormade

Way over due for some new irons.
I hit several brands and like the Mizuno Hot Metal and the Taylormade M5.
Does anyone have the Taylormade M5 or M6? Is there any real difference in the two other than the price?
The Mizuno Hot Metal is a great iron, but not sure if worth the price difference now that Tayormades are on sale.

You’re looking at 2 very different sets of clubs.
I may be wrong, but the Mizunos are forged and the TMs are cast heads. Very big difference.
Also, do you need any custom work or can you play them off the rack?

I am pretty sure that the Mizuno JPX919 Hot Metal irons are cast. But they are game improvement irons.
I haven't decided between custom or off the rack.

Then they probably are. I’m not as familiar with them.

And? I just throw that out there, because Mizuno is really good about offering free custom work including shafts and grips.

Mizuno does not charge extra for shaft or grips. You get a list and as long as they carry them you can choose from them.
I love my 919s

The mizzuno irons will be worth more when you want to trade in / sell them later for a new set.

I read last night that the new Sim irons from TM are better than the M5/M6 line. Only issue is that they both may be a little clunkier than the M5. Might want to wait a bit and try them.

Mizuno HMB. Less likely to get jumpers but still will go as far

Can anyone give a legit description difference between forged vs cast?
Feels like everything I read, the folks writing already think the reader knows what it means.

Forged: 1 piece of metal, more consistency of quality, more ability to shape the ball, more feed back on miss hits
Cast: more than 1 piece, generally more forgiving, made to aide higher ball flight

Cast irons are made by pouring hot metal into a mold, or cast, which gives the club heads their shape. Forged irons, on the other hand, are carved out of a solid piece of metal.

Ha, I appreciate the response man but this was what I was talking about. I know what “cast” and “forged” mean.
What does it mean when actually playing is my question.
