For recruiting reasons, we need to crush Clemson

Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU are becoming the big boys of College football and can all recruit on a National level.
If we win the championship it certainly makes it a little easier to recruit, but I don't believe it will make a big impact. If Clemson shows they can hang with us, recruits can be convinced that next year it will be different. That is why I want to blow Clemson out of the water. If we walk over them, it will take a little more convincing that 2020 will be different. It would also discredit Ohio State who Clemson beat.

Just winning would be enough. We break their streak just like we did to UCF and the rest will take care of itself.

We need to crush them because it will feel good.

The flip side, if they crush us like they did Alabama, it would not be good. If they do that, it would be a pretty good indication that they have superior coaching.

Way too much is made of this. If your theory is correct, why is Georgia ranked #3 in recruiting? They got humiliated by Texas LAST season in the Sugar Bowl and LSU spanked them in this year's SEC CG. Two years in a row they have had bad losses near the end of the seasons...didn't hurt them did it? Texas A&M went 0-5 against decent teams in the regular season and yet they are ranked right behind LSU in the recruiting rankings. Winning a particular game or losing this game or that game doesn't matter that much.

Money talks. Use a team that is not spending so much in recruiting to make your analogy... not agreeing or disagreeing with OP, but pointing out obviously UGA is spending on ole miss sanction level.

If we win, you will see the effects in the 2021 and 2022 classes.

Recruiting is not affected that much by results in the previous year. Clemson's class this year is a reflection of yes, the championships they've won, but more because of their trajectory that began in 2012-13.

Most kids don't just decide in their senior years where they would like to go to play. Those ideas are formed when they are 12-13 years old.

I concur and know this for fact. Friend of mine is a copter pilot and flew KS and other GA staff to NE texas and Dallas a few months back to visit cruits. Left over envelope of cash was given to pilot as a bet/ tip for him doing a between the stripes spot landing in a parking lot.

UGA has been in the playoffs recently and have been in the SEC championship game a lot lately as well. They aren’t the little sisters of the poor or anything.

No, we need to beat Clemson because winning is what this is all about, not recruiting. We don’t win to recruit well; we recruit well to win.

Georgia and TAM have a lot more resources than LSU does. Athens is a very good town. ATLANTA is very close Don’t really get the TAM thing. Texas is a great state for high school football. And early playing time.

Winning the National Championship is a big deal for recruiting. It is free national publicity that will carry over after Monday. Recruits love to brag to their friends that the National Champs are recruiting them. It will make new fans from the younger players. Coach O can walk into a recruits house as the Coach of the year, on the National Championship team. So a win is big.
I just think a "statement" win from either team, would be just that, a "statement". If Clemson smashes us they will be justifiably the best program in the nation. If we smash them, it shows that LSU could be on the verge of passing them up.
Caleb Williams, who will probably visit Clemson BTW, in a recent interview said he can't stand to lose. A close game shouldn't sway him much but a dominant win by either team might play a factor.

Never remotely said that GA was the "little sister of the poor". But you know how almost every big game broadcast of a GA game starts..."Georgia has the reputation of not being able to win the big game". And yes it was DEFINITELY said early in the SEC CG game vs LSU. 'nuff said!

Yeah, agree with you on the UGA area advantage. But as you said, College Station is nothing to write home about. My brother had 2 sons graduating from there and he almost calls it a way station to nowhere.

Our recruiting is solid win or lose. The amount of positive press that we are receiving is unprecedented, and Coach O is a national brand like few other in CFB.

Wining would yes help recruiting but just the fact that we are playing for the championship is plenty enough. Only 2 teams in the the entire country can say that.
