I don't know what's so hard to understand here. In order to make the legal argument for infringement being "theft", you had to introduce the concept of the theft of goodwill from the copyright holder. The word is a slightly better fit here, if only because someone is deprived of something. But it is not the content that the owner is deprived of. Rather, it is something intangible.
My response, though, pointed out that this offense is committed by those who redistribute unauthorized copyrighted content. NOT by those who consume it.
"Theft" is a very simple word with a very simple definition. Applying it to the act of watching illegal streams is metaphorical at best.
