Some churches think it necessary to attract people with such amenities. The Good News of Christ is way down on the list of why people attend such places of worship.

those are good points, but I'd rather see gyms than doughnuts and coffee. At least the gym has a chance of improving our physical temples, which is a lot more important than people realize.

And then there are some churches which actually do both. Prestonwood Baptist in DFW is one of the rare examples (their Plano campus has a full fitness area).
